HOW TO GET TO BAHAMAS?

Heute möchte ich euch erneut in ein kleines Paradies auf Erden entführen! Nachdem ich euch zuletzt die HIER Malediven vorgestellt habe, nehme ich euch heute mit auf die Bahamas!

Ganz einfach mit dem Flugzeug ;-)! Condor ist seit Jahren unsere Lieblingsairlines, weil sie einfach die schönsten Urlaubsziele direkt ansteuern und nun gibt es endlich einen Direktflug von Frankfurt auf die Bahamas. Für den Flug haben wir uns für die Premium Economy Class entschieden, welche die Mitte darstellt zwischen Economy und Business. Ihr habt viel Beinfreiheit ein großes Entertainment Programm und Premium Essen. Wenn es nicht Business sein muss, finde ich diese Klasse absolut perfekt, grade für lange Flüge. Wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt und die Zeit ging wirklich schnell vorbei!

Today I want to take you again into a little paradise on earth! After I introduced you the Maldives HERE, I am taking you to the Bahamas today!

Quite simply by plane ;-)! Condor has been our favorite airline for years, because they are simply heading directly to the most beautiful destinations and now there is finally a direct flight from Frankfurt to the Bahamas. For the flight, we chose the Premium Economy Class, which is the middle between economy and business. You have plenty of legroom, a great entertainment program and premium food. If it does not have to be Business Class, I find this class absolutely perfect, especially for long flights. We felt really comfortable and the time passed by really fast!

WHERE TO LIVE – NASSAU

Wenn man aus dem eiskalten Frankfurt kommt und zum ersten Mal in Nassau aus dem Flieger steigt ist es ein wenig surreal. Wärme, eine angenehme Brise streicht durch die Haare und am Ausgang des Flughafens wartet ein Rolls Royce unseres Hotels, dem Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau. Der Rolls Royce Transfer ist bei jedem Zimmer mit Butler Service inklusive und ehrlich gesagt – genau so muss ein Urlaub anfangen!

Als wir im Hotel ankamen waren wir zwar müde aber an Schlaf war nicht zu denken. Zu beeindruckend die riesigen Pools, der Hotelstrand und die vielen Lichter, die das Hotel in ein romantisches Licht tauchten. Unser Butler half uns beim Check in und reservierte für uns direkt einen Tisch in einem der vielen Restaurants. An den Service könnte ich mich gewöhnen :P. Unser Zimmer war auf einer der oberen Etagen und hatte einen Traumhaften Blick auf das Meer. Obwohl wir noch vor wenigen Stunden in Deutschland gewesen waren, schien die Winterkälte so weit entfernt als hätte sie in einem anderen Leben stattgefunden. Wir waren auf den Bahamas angekommen!

When you come out of freezing Frankfurt and get off the plane for the first time in Nassau, it’s a bit surreal. Warmth, a pleasant breeze sweeps through the hair and at the exit of the airport a Rolls Royce of our hotel, the Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, awaits. The Rolls Royce transfer is included in every room with butler service and frankly – that’s how a vacation needs to start!

When we arrived at the hotel we were tired but to go to sleep was out of the question. Too impressive were the huge pools, the hotel beach and the many lights that bathed the hotel in a romantic light. Our butler helped us to check in and reserved a table for us in one of the many stunning restaurants. I could get used to this service: P. Our room was on one of the upper floors and had a dreamlike view of the sea. Although we had been in Germany only a few hours ago, the winter cold seemed as far away as if it had taken place in another life. We had arrived in the Bahamas!

WHERE TO LIVE – GREAT EXUMA

Im Sandals in Nassau blieben wir nur eine Nacht und flogen am nächsten Tag mit einer kleinen Propellermaschine weiter nach Great Exuma, eine Insel der Bahamas. Unser Ziel war das Sandals Emerald Bay. Die Insel Great Exuma ist bekannt für ihre traumhaften Strände und vielen Aktivitäten, die inzwischen Weltruhm erlangt haben.

Das Sandals hat ein super schönes Konzept: Es ist ein Hotel, welches ausschließlich für Paare ist. Ich war noch nie in so einem Hotel und hatte absolut keine Vorstellung wie es sein würde. Ehrlich gesagt, ich war bereits nach dem ersten Tag einfach begeistert. Dadurch, dass nur Paare dort sind, herrscht eine super entspannte Stimmung und ich glaube wir sind noch sie so leicht und angenehm mit Menschen ins Gespräch gekommen. Der Vibe in den Sandals Resorts ist einfach traumhaft! Noch besser hat mir das All Inklusive Konzept gefallen. Egal welche Zimmerkategorie ihr bucht: Alle Restaurants, die Bar, das Cafe etc. etc. sind inklusive. Es war für mich das erste Hotel, in dem wirklich alles All Inkusive war und ich hätte niemals eine so fantastische Qualität der Produkte erwartet. Das französische Restaurant dort war so gut, dass es locker mit den Edelrestaurants in meiner Wahlheimat Paris mithalten konnte. Von Haute Cuisine bis Pizza to go gibt es einfach alles worauf man Lust hat!

Das Sandals Emerald Bay verfügt außerdem über einen kilometerlangen Privatstrand und ihr könnt euch ein Zimmer direkt am Strand buchen, um jeden Morgen im Meer schwimmen zu gehen. Überall auf der Anlage finden sich traumhafte Gartenanlagen und falls ihr es möchtet könnt ihr dort sogar heiraten oder euer Ehegelübde erneuern. Einen romantischeren Ort dafür kann ich mir kaum vorstellen! Der Poolbereich des Hotels ist ebenfalls einfach unglaublich. Eine gigantische Poollandschaft, von der aus man das Meer überblickt, mehrere Bars, die einen im Wasser mit karibischen Drinks versorgen und viele Sonnenliegen sowie Cabanas – was braucht man mehr?

At the Sandals in Nassau we only stayed one night and flew the next day with a small propeller plane to Great Exuma, an island of the Bahamas. Our destination was the Sandals Emerald Bay. The island of Great Exuma is known for its beautiful beaches and many activities that have gained world fame.

Sandals has a super nice concept: it is a hotel, which is exclusively for couples. I have never stayed in such a hotel and had absolutely no idea what it would be like. Honestly, I was pleasently surprised after the first day. Due to the fact that there are only couples, there is a very relaxed atmosphere and I think we are never got into conversations with other guests so easy and pleasant. The vibe at Sandals Resorts is just gorgeous! However, I liked the All Inclusive concept even more :D. No matter which room type you book: All restaurants, the bar, the cafe etc. etc. are included. It was the first hotel for me in which everything was really all inclusive and I would never have expected such a fantastic quality of the products. The French restaurant there was so good that it could easily compete with the fine restaurants in my adopted home of Paris. From haute cuisine to pizza to go, there is just everything you want!

The Sandals Emerald Bay also has miles of private beach and you can book a beach front room to swim in the ocean every morning. Everywhere on the grounds are beautiful gardens and if you want you can even marry there or renew your marriage vows. I can hardly imagine a more romantic place for that! The pool area of ​​the hotel is also just incredible. A gigantic pool area overlooking the sea, several bars serving Caribbean drinks and plenty of sun loungers and cabanas – what more do you need?

WHAT TO DO

Wenn einem das relaxen irgendwann dann doch zu langweilig geworden ist, habt ihr die Möglichkeit auf den Bahamas eine Menge Aktivitäten zu unternehmen. Wir haben insgesamt 2 unserer 4 Tage dort genutzt, um die Natur und die Tierwelt der Insel zu entdecken.

Die kleine Insel „Chat & Chill“ ist mit einem Wassertaxi innerhalb weniger Minuten von Exuma aus zu erreichen und verfügt über ein Restaurant und einen schönen Strand. Nichts besonderes denkt ihr jetzt? Weit gefehlt! Sobald man ins Wasser geht kommen riesige, frei lebende Rochen angeschwommen und hoffen von euch gefüttert zu werden. Diese Tiere sind so majestätisch und mit absolut nichts vergleichbar was ich zuvor gesehen hatte. Ihr müsst dafür nichts zahlen und könnt einfach ohne Zeitdruck die Tiere erleben, mit ihnen Schwimmen und Fotos machen. Auf der Insel leben viele (Schmuse-)Katzen und ihr könnt mit ihnen den ganzen Tag am Strand liegen und relaxen. Dort gibt es übrigens kein Internet und die Restaurant-Mitarbeiter geben euch absichtlich nicht den Wifi-Code, damit die Menschen leichter ins Gespräch kommen und nicht jeder an seinem Phone hängt. Der Gedanke dahinter funktioniert und der Digital-Detox hat mir mal ganz gut getan :D. Eine tolle und sehr preisgünstige Erfahrung, die wir jedem nur empfehlen können.

If at some point chilling at the beach becomes too boring, you have the opportunity to do a lot of activities in the Bahamas. We have used a total of 2 of our 4 days to discover the nature and wildlife of the island.

The small island “Chat & Chill” can be reached within a few minutes by water taxi from Exuma and has a restaurant as well as a beautiful beach. Nothing special you think now? Not even close! As soon as you go into the water, huge, free-roaming stingrays come swimming and hope to be fed by you. These animals are so majestic and nothing like what I had seen before. You do not have to pay anything and you can easily experience the animals without time pressure, swimm and take pictures with them. Many (cuddly) cats live on the island and you can lie down on the beach with them all day long and relax. Incidentally, there is no Internet and the restaurant staff deliberately do not give you the Wifi code, so its easier to talk to people and not everyone is on his phone. The idea behind it works well and the Digital-Detox was quite good for me :D. A great and very reasonably priced experience that we can recommend to anyone.

Etwas teurer, dafür aber vollgepackt mit Erlebnissen sind die Tagestouren auf den Bahamas. Es gibt 3-4 große Anbieter, die ihr auf HIER auf Tripadvisor findet. Eine ganztägige Tour kostet ca. 250 Euro pro Person. Darin enthalten ist ein Besuch bei den weltberühmten Schweinen, welche mit euch im Meer schwimmen und sich füttern lassen, ein Besuch auf der Leguan Insel, schwimmen mit Haien und ein bisschen Natur -Sightseeing sowie tauchen in einer Grotte. Auf dem Ausflug wird wirklich viel geboten und ich würde sagen es lohnt sich definitiv auf diese Weise die Bahamas zu entdecken. Was ich etwas schade finde, ist dass man wirklich nur 10-15 Minuten pro Attraktion hat. Heißt, ihr könnt kurz die Schweine füttern, ein Foto machen und dann geht es auch schon weiter. Das ist zwar nachvollziehbar, aber irgendwie hat es mich etwas gestört, ständig in Eile zu sein. Wenn ihr mit eurer Familie dort seid oder mit Freunden, würde ich euch empfehlen eine private Tour zu buchen. Dann ist euer Guide nur für euch da und ihr könnt selber bestimmen wo ihr wie lange bleiben wollt. Dennoch: Der ganze Tag war definitiv ein Highlight meines Lebens, die Eindrücke haben einen schier überwältigt und als wir wieder im Sandals durch die Allee der weihnachtlich geschmückten Palmen liefen, konnten Max und ich gar nicht richtig realisieren was wir alles gesehen haben. Ein Must Do auf jeden Fall!

A bit more expensive, but packed with experiences are the day tours in the Bahamas. There are 3-4 major vendors that you can find on HERE on Tripadvisor. A full day tour costs about 250 euros per person. This includes a visit to the world famous pigs, who swim with you in the sea and get fed, a visit to the Iguana Island, swimming with sharks and a bit of nature sightseeing as well as diving in a cave. There is a lot to see on the trip and I would say it is definitely worth discovering the Bahamas this way. I did not like however that you really only have 10-15 minutes per attraction. Meaning, you can feed the pigs for a moment, take a picture and then the tour goes on. This is understandable, but somehow it bothered me a bit to be in a hurry. If you are there with your family or with friends, I would recommend you book a private tour. Then your guide is just there for you and you can decide for yourself where you want to stay and for how long. Nevertheless, the whole day was definitely a highlight of my life, the impressions have almost overwhelmed me and when we were back in our Sandals resort walking through the avenue of Christmas decorated palms, Max and I could not really realize what we had seen this day. A must do in any case!
